Fisher Working Professional MBA 2023 Essay Tips

Fisher Working Professional MBA Essay: Personal Statement (750 words)

The personal statement gives you the opportunity to present yourself more fully to our MBA for Working Professionals Admissions Committee and to provide insight into your experiences, goals, and thought processes. Your personal statement should include and describe:

  • Your short-term and long-term goals
  • Your reasons for seeking an MBA degree in general
  • Why you believe a Fisher College of Business MBA will help you achieve these goals

The goals part of the question would require you to state your short-term goals in the context of your motivation, your vision of the future, and your past professional experience. You should mention the position you are aiming for following your MBA degree. You could then talk about how this will eventually lead you to your long-term goal, and what impact you hope to make by its attainment.

In giving your reasons for seeking an MBA degree in general, you will need to refer to the gap that exists between your current credentials and where you want to be in future. You will have to explain how, in pursuing an MBA program, you will be able to bridge this gap between your present status and your aspirations for the future.

For a convincing answer as to why a Fisher College of Business MBA will help you achieve your goals, you must conduct a thorough research of the program – its location, campus, curriculum, faculty, co-curricular activities, community life, alumni, et al. This might involve reading up on the web, visiting the campus, meeting students and alumni, attending introductory programs, etc. Once you have collected your material, you need to identify those activities and portions of the curriculum that are of special relevance to you vis-a-vis your short and long term goals.
